New Music Video
This Music Video features Tinie Tempah. The artist we have based our artist from. This music video is very high budget and there is a lot of special effects involved. However we can take inspiration of costume designs from these artist and the use of cuts to go with beat.

What makes a good music video
- Researching into different kinds of music video's, I wanted to know tips I could use when making our group music video- I found a website that answered most my questions.
http://musicians.about.com/od/musicindustrybasics/ss/makeavideo_10.htm
Beware of Using Excessive Zoom:
It may look cool while you're shooting it, but in the final edit zooming often looks clichéd, and unless done with a very steady hand can often look amateurish.
And Excessive Special Effects:
Even the most basic video editing software has a myriad of of special effects for you to use; color changing, rolling edits, split screens.....it's advisable to use them sparingly. A good video isn't a showcase for how many effects you've mastered. It's usually better to use a couple of effects throughout the video to create a certain feel rather than use as many effects as you can to make a video exciting (if you need to do this, then maybe it's time to rethink your idea. or add some more footage - see Steps 4, 5 and 6).
But Think about Adding Sound Effects:
A dramatic music video may be enhanced with some addition sound effects. If your video begins with someone walking down the street, you could add the sound of footsteps or ambient street noise over the intro. If you're making a video for someone else make sure they won't mind you adding sound effects to their perfectly crafted tune!
Don't Be Over Ambitious:
A simple idea well executed is often more effective than a complex idea done badly.
And Ignore All I've Said:
The most interesting videos are made when the rules of convention are bent, buckled and broken, so keep experimenting and above all else, make something interesting.
What makes a music video a music video
- The music, otherwise it would not be a music video
- Certain song or genres have a theme of using 'Sexy' girls
- lip syncing
- Lighting- Sets the scene
- different types of cuts 'Non linear editing' (music videos use more edits than film's)
- Slow motion -Transitions
- The changing of artists outfits
- Some genres are just about the 'Bling'
- Repetition of images
- Dance and performance
- 'Sexyness'
- Verse/Chorus structure
- Edit to the beat

We first had the initial idea of recording our music video in Alexandra Palace to illustrate the lyrics. However now we decided to change our music video to a performance rather than an illustration. Therefore we decided on having our location in west end.
we thought the city lights and environment suited our music video most - It set's the tone.

Tinnie Tempah: Official website - www.tinietempah.com/
THE ORIGINAL ARTIST: TINNIE TEMPAH.
The layout: The page is separated in squares/rectangles. For example: In the top right corner the section is names 'Latest news'. In another there a logo of his clothing brand. How come the website is set out like this and not in lists?
- Design: A black background so the colours like purple, blue and whites can stand out. The website colours seem to co-ordinate with the well-know picture of Tinnie Tempah. The picture also features on the website. The colours are 'party' and 'outer-space' colours. Party: His type of music he usually created. Outerspace: Describing Tinnie Tempah's talent maybe.
- Brand logo: Tinnie Tempah is known for wearing 'Ray bans' the brand is also wearing the glasses. This allows fans to associate the clothing with straight away!
There are few pictures on the website showing Tinnies Tempah's fashion sense: Tinnie's Tempah's style is not the typical 'UK rap/hip hop' artists style. Does this make him stand out compared to other artists that make the same kind of music?
- Fitted jeans (NO MORE BAGGY JEANS -YUCK!)
- Checked/Denim Shirts
- His famous Ray-Ban glasses.
A number of promotional music sources:
- Video clips of his music that can be played.
- A link where you can share his videos to your own websites.
- Links to his facebook, twitter, myspace sites and youtube account.
- As stated above: Latest news section - Where information cab be obtained about artist.
- On the right hand side are 'tweets' directly from his twitter.
- Click on 'click here to buy' and be transferred straight to I-tunes to purchase his song.
- Tinnie Tempah's website allows you to be update with what's going on with your favourite artist , you are able to watch videos directly from his website and contact him through social networks!
Tinie Tempah's official website.
My Original artist: Tinie tempah.
On his website I can see there is a lot of bright lighting and sparkly parts however the black background colour makes it stand out even more. This may be promotional for Tinies brand as it portrays quite a party atmosphere as well as supernatural and spacey. We can also identify his brand logo, which I felt symbolises him in a way, it identifies his character.
- Tinie’s style of glasses is similar to his logo.
- Presents his character.
His image is also portrayed through his website. There are a lot of images with Tinie in different clothes – It gives the audience an idea of his fashion sense.
- Jeans
- Ray-Ban glasses
- Checkered shirts
- Rolex watch
I feel his image presents to audiences the idea of R&B/Urban music.
He also has promotional music sources.
· Slide show of his different albums
· Can click straight onto itunes to buy the song
· You can listen to the artist live
· Find out latest news about the artist
· Blog to him
· Facebook and other social networking sites
· View all his posts on youtube and other sources.
Skills audit:
Looking back to the AS year i can see that my research skills have developed. I now am able to blog quicker and know the formats to copy and paste work onto it and also uploading video's. I have also come use to using vemo, as i had never used it before AS. Using this blogging site has also made me acustomed to wordpress and how it was the starting of blogging for thousand of users. Lastly, even though I feel i'm already confident with using youtube, I still found new skills and learnt that it is a great source of finding all kinds of past student videos aswell as information on the music and film industry.

Videos that have had an influence:
The scene where the two artists are standing on the hill with a nice view. We would like to in-cooperate this into our video.
The medium shots that established the scene and the panelling of the artists outfit. The transition of 'fading in' will have the same purpose in my video.
The fact this songs master track is based in a studio which once again we would like to make our video's master track in a studio.
A shot of the artist at the beginning but not revealing who they are until the song starts. This could be put at the end of our video instead when the song is fading out.

- ALL SONGS CONTAIN A FEMALE AND THEY ALL SHARE THE SAME FEELINGS. 'LOVE.'
Original video of our song choice and how it will differ
-No video has been produced for this song yet, for this reason we will have to be independent and come up with our own fresh ideas on how we could create this song into a music video.
Our song choice 'Tinie Tempah - Just a little'
The state if the music industry in 2012
'The music industry has changed hugely in the last 10 years'
-The production of music was limited to recent years, before music was produced on vinal, long play and tapes as now there most all recorded for MP3 formats. The music industry has shifted to the new generation of technology.
-Music was distributed by the radio, TV or word of mouth as now distribution has advanced to online software's i.e. social networking sites however this is not always a positive aspect to the music industry. People are able to download music illegally which decreased the amount of music sales.
- 21 million legally downloaded
- 1.2 billion downloaded illegally
- Illegally there is a much bigger market.
Favourite previous student video
In class we analysed varies different student music videos, although there was one that I favoured most which was Nigel, Beverly, Camilla and Irenes group.
http://vimeo.com/17676420
- What I found particularly good about this student video, was the use of camera angles and shots that went in time with the beat of the song.
- The lip sync was in time with the lyrics.
- They managed to create the essence of a music video in that it captured my attention and became entertaining to watch.
- Another reason would be that you could see a clear structure (verse, chorus, verse)
- It had a clear master shot (In the studio) and base track(Out door setting) that went through out the song.
- they used product placement, to advertise the watch.
- As my group are using similar locations (Studio and outdoor setting) and mise en scene (costumes, using a male& female as the stars in the video) I thought I would be appropriate to use this an as example.
- Amplification- The studio (master shot) scene had no relation to the lyrics of the song however it did make the song seem more exciting to watch.
